There is something incredibly special about photographing a newborn in the comfort of their own home. The pace slows down, the moments feel honest, and families get to settle into the snuggliest version of themselves. Cassandra’s in home newborn session was exactly that. Quiet, joy filled and beautifully real.
Cassandra is the sweetest little lady and she could not have been born into a more loving family. From the second I walked through the door, the house felt full of warmth. Her big sister Stevie was buzzing with excitement and made sure to show me all her best moves before hopping into some photos with her brand new baby sister. Watching her bounce between being silly with her dad and gently checking in on Cassandra was the cutest thing. She took her role as big sister very seriously but still kept everyone laughing the whole time.
For this lifestyle newborn session, we spent most of our time in the primary bedroom. The soft morning light filled the room and gave everything that cozy glow that makes in home newborn photography so magical. Cassandra was snuggled up in her mama’s arms for most of our time together, and she was perfectly content being wrapped up and admired. Her tiny yawns, her little stretches, and the way she nestled right into the crook of her mom’s arm were the sweetest moments to capture.
Meanwhile, Stevie and her dad brought the energy in the best way. They played, giggled, flew like an airplane, and even included their pup who clearly did not want to miss out on the action. These moments are exactly why I love in home lifestyle sessions. It is not about posing or perfection. It is about real family life. The big personalities, the tiny new additions, and everything that makes your home the heart of your story.
This Calgary in home newborn session was the perfect mix of tender and joyful. Cassandra is already so loved and it was an honour to document this season for their family.
