Calgary Riverside Maternity Photography: Celebrating This Growing Family at Pearce Estate Park

There is nothing quite like the joy of welcoming back a returning client and getting to document their family as it grows and changes. A few years ago, I had the absolute honor of capturing Kerrin and her husband for their very first maternity and newborn sessions. Fast forward to this beautiful summer evening, and we were hanging out again—this time with their sweet little guy, Nolan, who is about to take on the most exciting role yet: big brother!

For this session, we headed out to one of my absolute favorite hidden gems in the city, Pearce Estate Park. If you’ve never been, it is the perfect spot for Calgary riverside maternity photography. Tucked away along the Bow River, it features winding dirt paths, beautiful wooden fencing, big mature trees, and incredible greenery that makes you feel like you’ve completely left the city behind.

From the second we started walking down the trail, it was so clear that Nolan is going to make the absolute best big brother. He is getting so big, full of energy, and has the most wonderful little personality. Whether he was walking down the path holding his mom and dad’s hands or getting swung up into the air, his smiles were totally infectious.

And can we talk about Kerrin? She was absolutely glowing! Pregnancy looks so incredible on her, and her long blue-and-white floral dress was the perfect choice against the soft greens and earthy tones of the park. There is a specific kind of magic that happens during a second maternity session. You already know the profound love of being a parent, yet there’s this beautiful anticipation of wondering exactly who this new little soul will be and how they will fit into your family’s dynamic.

While Nolan kept us laughing and moving, we also made sure to slow down and capture some quiet, sweet moments focused just on Kerrin and her beautiful bump, as well as some romantic portraits of her and her husband. The love and connection between these two is just as strong as it was the first time they sat in front of my camera, only now it’s deepened by the shared adventure of parenthood.

We ended our evening wandering deeper into the trees, exploring the fallen logs and the tall grass. It was relaxed, fun, and completely genuine exactly how a family session should feel.
