Fall Wedding Photography Calgary

I have been looking forwards to Theron & Rachelle’s Okotoks Foothills Centennial Centre wedding since the day I got the chance to meet them both. They planned their perfect Autumn wedding day for October 3rd, 2016. Surrounded by their loved ones, wedding party and friends Theron & Rachelle got to say “I do” to their best friend in the cutest church in Okotoks Alberta. It was the most amazing wedding ceremony and were even gift to unique but beautiful tea cups from the officiant. What I loved even more was the meaning behind the cups. Whenever one of the people in the relationship needs to talk they can pull out the mugs and brew a pot of tea. That small motion of placing two uniquely different but beautiful tea cups out of the cupboard symbolized the needing to slow down, chat and work thru the differences each unique and different person brings into the relationships. Isn’t that beautiful?!?All week the weather was forecasted to be rain the entire day with no sun. Thankfully mother nature was on our side and their beautiful wedding day stayed dry, and even the sun came out for a bit.

Congrats Theron & Rachelle on your perfect fall wedding day! It was such an honour to be a part of it and be the ones to capture your love story! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness! 🙂

How did you two meet & how did you get engaged?

We met through mutual friends while we were both living in residents at the university of Saskatchewan. Rachelle was immediately attracted to Theron’s “swimmers body” and Theron liked how easy it was to make Rachelle laugh and that she liked football. Plus she was pretty cute. 😉 They dated all through university before doing a few years of long distance when Theron moved to Alberta from Saskatchewan while Rachelle finished up schooling. Once moving to Calgary, we started looking for our first home. We spent months going to open houses, but finally found the perfect one in July of 2014. On August 13th, we got possession of our first home and were handed the keys. Theron asked the realtor to take a picture of us on the deck, at which time he pulled a ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. It was the best Wednesday you could ever dream of and we celebrated our new home and sparkly ring with friends and some bubbly!

What advice would you give to future brides & grooms for their wedding day?

Rachelle’s advice: try not fret over the little details. I found myself concerned over details with decor, the seating chart and the food. All that matters is that you get to marry your best friend and that’s all that you will remember of the day. The little details are missed and all you will see are the people who surround you on your special day! Enjoy it because it goes by quick!
Theron’s advice: It’s all about the bride! Jk! Get all the things you are responsible for done early so you have time to enjoy your company as they arrive.

What was your biggest surprise on your wedding day?
The biggest surprise for both of us was how relaxed we were on the actual day. Of course you get those last minute nerves as you approach the church, but everything ran so smoothly that the whole day seemed so relaxed. We were both so happy and were so fixed on one another that you forget that others are watching you! Also, everyone warns you but it is still shocking how quickly the day is over! You blink and it is all of a sudden the last song of the night!

What one moment will last with you both forever?

Rachelle: Walking down the isle! The anticipation as my dad took my arm and we turned to walk down the isle is a moment I will never forget. My dad and I were both shaking and I have never been more happy than when I saw Theron in his bow tie standing waiting for me.
Theron: The butterflies I felt as I was waiting for Rachelle at the front of the church.

What was your wedding inspiration?

5) I honestly didn’t feel I had a theme except for maybe lanterns. As we had a ton on the wedding day! I always thought simple, but elegant because we aren’t really fancy people. I also wanted a ton of flowers since everything was indoor it was a nice way to bring the outdoors inside a bit. I just wanted people to have a great time celebrating with us and to feel relaxed through the day.

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.

One of my favorite details was our guest book. It was a map that my sisters friend made. We, especially me (Rachelle) has an obsession with globes. We love to travel and we both have a passion to see as much of the world as we can! We have globes in all our bedrooms except ours so we thought that would be a great addition to our room! Also, my dress! I tried on 90 dresses and this was the last one. It was perfect! The bridesmaid dresses were also one of my favourite things. My sister sent me pictures of the emerald green and I loved it. The color with all the fall leaves was perfect! The jam and cheesecakes were also a great detail as they were made by our mothers. It gave a personal touch to our guests and showed how lucky we are to have such talented women in our lives. Lastly, our bridal party. A lot would say that 7 is too many but I disagree. It was amazing to have such good friends stand beside us all day! It makes for a lot of fun getting ready, at pictures and just to hang out with your best friends all day is pretty special!

Any advice for those planning their wedding now?

Enjoy every minute of planning a wedding. If you are having trouble deciding on something, remember the reason you are getting married and whatever you are fretting about will seem less important! And hire a good photographer 😉 it makes for a fun day!
