Fairmont Banff Springs Wedding | Dean & Kate | Banff Wedding Photographer
Last weeks wedding was sheer perfection! Kate had always dreamed about getting married in a castle and her dreams became a reality. The Fairmont Banff Springs was the perfect backdrop to their day as they were surrounded by loved ones from Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand and all across the USA. Both Dean & Kate are from over seas so having all their loved ones in their favourite favourite place was a dream come true. The weather had been hit and miss all week. Having snow storms and bitterly cold weather one day to sunny and warm the next. It was a bit touch and go leading up to the day and in the end they moved their ceremony from the Banff town gazebo to the conservatory room int he Banff Springs. If you have never see this room it is seriously stunning. It was drenched in light with mountain views out of every window. It was the perfect spot for their wedding ceremony.
We headed out to Surprise Corner for their wedding photos, and we were lucky enough to have dry ground as all the snow had THANKFULLY melted. The still snow covered mountains against the bright blue skies made for some seriously stunning backdrops. Dean & Kate were also absolute troopers braving the cooler winds to get these mountain images.
Then it was back to the Fairmont Banff Springs for their stunning nature inspired wedding reception. The room was absolutely stunning! Each table had s beautiful lace overlay with the cutest tree round magnets as their favours. From the wine barrel buffet table to the greenery drenched head table there was no part of the room that didn’t have their personal touches on. To get the party started they had live music, lots of dancing and of course a ton of laughs. There was no better way to cap the day off with these two amazing people!
Congrats Dean & Kate, it was an absolute honour documenting your wedding day!
Now here is a bit form the couple:
Engagement story:
Kate and I got engaged on November 17th in Port Villa, Vanuatu. We were away on holiday with Kate’s family, I had recently received the ring that I had made from a friend, which reflects Kate’s Tasmanian heritage. Using Australian rose gold, an argyle Australian diamond and made to look like two Tasmanian gum leaves intertwined.
On our last night at the villa, I took Kate outside to view the amazing evening storm clouds over the ocean, and thoroughly surprised here with a proposal.
Her first words were ‘this better not be a joke’.
I finally got a yes when she finished crying.
Advice to future brides/ grooms:
If you have no experience in weddings or wedding planning then hire someone to do it for you! Take away the stress and worry of the day.
Whisky flask and water on hand are also entirely required!
Biggest surprise:
Kate: that Dean shed a tear at the ceremony
Dean: seeing Kate walk in, she looked incredible.
One lasting moment:
The grand entrance to the reception with the awesome music in the background.
Wedding inspiration:
Taking back to nature and trying to bring outside inside. Trying to keep it Canadian and earthy. We live in the most incredible mountains and wilderness and wanted to pay tribute to that.
Favourite wedding details:
The wine barrels! Suggested to us by our friend Dana.
Dean and Kates shoes!!! Lots of research and finding unique people to creat them.
Flowers! Was a bit of a drama getting them done in the end but they blended in so well with our theme. The log and candle staircase! Put together by Kate and her sister the night before.
Advice for those planning:
Discuss and stick to a budget, find vendors that you connect with, things will flow so much better when you do. Also talk to married friends for advice and ideas!
